Summer Picnic Ideas for the Whole Family

Fruit Punch Ahhh, summer. Birds chirping, warm weather, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sunlight. Did you know that July also happens to be National Picnic Month? As parents of a tot, we’ve realized that any outdoor activity can help keep the little one busy during the long summer days. We love spending time doing something special with the whole family and ensuring that her childhood is full of these little fun moments. Picnicking is a way to combine mealtime with playtime – fostering her love of the outdoors and giving the parents some time to relax in the sunshine. Take a look at our favorite vegan recipes below for the perfect picnic spread!

Let’s Begin

Sparkly Fruit Punch The start of any proper picnic is a super yummy sipper, and this fruit punch hits the spot every time! Full of our favorite juices and fresh fruit, the sparkling water gives this bev the ZING it needs! Even on the hottest days, you and your fam will be cool as a cucumber.

Trail Mix For a snack that will keep you satisfied while the kids work off that extra energy, we think there’s nothing better than some good ol’ trail mix (with a Wildmade twist, of course!) This starter is so customizable, because you can add whatever snacks you and the little ones are fond of. We fill ours with nuts for those healthy fats, and of course a generous amount of Veggie Go’s Bites for sweetness! Eliminating the chocolate found in most trail mixes and replacing with a no-sugar-added alternative really ups the nutritional value, and we’re all for it!

Easy Entrees

Simple Pasta Salad

Easy Salad Recipe Whether you’re plant-based or not, pasta salad has got to be the ultimate picnic dish. Easy to assemble, portable for sure, and deliciously satisfying. This simple salad is perfect as it is or with the addition of additional veggies, protein or vegan cheese: 1 pound tri-color rotini pasta 1 can black olives 2 cups assorted color cherry tomatoes, halved 2 cups broccoli florets, blanched ½ red onion, chopped 1 – 11/2 cups good quality organic Italian dressing Boil rotini until al dente. Drain, rinse under cold water, and drain again. Place in a large bowl. Add olive, tomatoes, broccoli and onion and toss. Add 1 cup dressing and toss. Cover and refrigerate until serving, adding additional dressing is salad is dry. Makes about 6-8 servings. Pro tip: make ahead in mason jars and layer the ingredients, sans dressing. Once you get to your picnic spot, add the Italian dressing, shake, and ENJOY!

Grilled Corn Salsa Nothing says summer quite like some corn on the cob, ESPECIALLY when it’s fresh off the grill. That’s why we love whipping up a batch of Grilled Corn Salsa – perfect to scoop with your chip of choice. Pair with burritos made ahead-of-time, tamales, a dip spread, etc. Take a look at our video for the full recipe!

Quinoa Salad Quinoa is easy to prepare and OH so good for you! Start the party with bold flavors like mango and lime, and you’ve got a full fiesta on your hands! We love how easy this dish is to pack, and our tot totally loves the chunks of avocado mixed throughout. Take a look at the full video to give this stellar salad a try!

Dessert Time

Beachy Parfaits Everyone loves the feeling of sand between their toes, but in a parfait?! Well, that’s even better. The kids will have a blast with this delectable dessert that you can prep at home and pack in your basket. We dare you not to have a good time eating those Wildmade Fruit Roll

S'MORES No picnic is complete without our favorite summertime treat that’s extra SWEET. The charred potatoes blend perfectly with the sweetness of chocolate and toasted mallows, so the fresh cherries we love to add only serve to kick it up to the next level! There’s nothing our little lady loves more than enjoying one of these sammies. Fire up the grill ‘cause these are gonna leave you wanting s’more
